About us
What is capoeira?
Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian art that combines fight, dance, music and acrobatics inside a roda. It is play, community and culture: everyone has a place in it.

Movement and energy
Build strength, flexibility and coordination by playing.

Live music
Berimbau, pandeiro and song: the rhythm that moves the roda.

For everyone
No experience needed. Any age and any level are welcome.

First day
Before you come
Do I need any experience?
No. Most people start from nothing, and the roda is exactly where you learn.
What do I wear?
Comfortable clothes you can move in. Capoeira is done barefoot.
Do I need to be fit?
No. Fitness comes from training, not the other way round.
Do I have to sing?
Singing is part of the roda, and you learn it by listening. Nobody will make you sing alone on your first day.
Is there an age limit?
Write to us and we will tell you how the group works.
What is a roda?
The circle where people play, sing and keep the rhythm. It is where capoeira happens.
Do I need to speak Portuguese?
No. The songs are in Portuguese and you pick them up along the way; the classes are not.
